WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Dark Nights: Death Metal #1.

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Dark Nights: Death Metal, a follow-up to Dark Nights: Metal, has proven to be immense in terms of scope. True to its name, the comic features several members of the DC Universe sporting outfits inspired by rock metal. Nowhere is that more apparent than Batman.

Capullo posted a rough sketch of Batman's Death Metal outfit on social media. The Dark Knight is shown sporting a long black trenchcoat with spiked shoulder pads and bat-shaped knee pads. Additionally, chains were added to his utility belt.

The first issue of Death Metal depicted a world overrun by the dark goddess Perpetua and ruled by the Batman Who Laughs. Batman appeared in the issue, sporting a Black Lantern ring, which he used to resurrect an army of zombies to battle the Batmen from the Dark Multiverse. He also approached Seargent Rock, seeking the soldier's help.

Capullo and Snyder have shared a long history together, working on various Batman stories. The Dark Nights: Death Metal series has already introduced a spectrum of Dark Knights, many of which have come from the Dark Multiverse and use their skills and weaponry for evil. The latest miniseries has now included a Bat-mage, B-Rex and an evil incarnation of the Tomorrow Knight.

Dark Nights: Death Metal #1, by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion and FCO Plascencia, is on sale now from DC.
