Dark Nights: Death Metal is the sequel to Dark Nights: Metal, by the same creative team of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. Metal was a story about the DC Universe becoming invaded by a group of evil Batmen from the 'Dark Multiverse,' a sinister reflection of DC's own iconic multiverse. The event was wildly successful, in no small part thanks to the introduction of a new fan-favorite villain The Batman Who Laughs.

When readers last saw West, he had just wrapped up his own mini-series Flash Forward. In the story, he acquired the vast knowledge of Metron's Mobius Chair, and with it, the power of Doctor Manhattan, whose effects on the DC Universe were explored in Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's Doomsday Clock. The mini-series ended with a promise that Wally would use his newfound power to right wrongs in DC's timeline.

Dark Nights: Death Metal #1 by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion and FCO goes on sale May 13 from DC. Issues #2-3 will ship in June and July, and then issues #4-6 will ship in September, October and November, respectively.
