While brainstorming for their upcoming Dark Nights: Death Metal series, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo discussed ideas that included an "evil monster truck Batmobile" and a robot dinosaur with Batman's consciousness uploaded into it.

"I will say one thing. One of the evil Batmen -- there's many evil Batmen in this story, just to let you know, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Some are kind of ludicrous," Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter.

"I said to Greg, I want a big monstrous one and I have a few options. One we were thinking of was maybe an evil monster truck Batmobile that eventually became sentient and then killed everybody and became Batman of his world, or, I was like, what about dinosaur if it was the robot dinosaur in the Batcave and Batman was about to die and he uploaded his consciousness into the mechanical dinosaur, and then that kind of gets out of control and becomes an evil Batman on its world. Those are the kind of things that we talk about."

Snyder and Capullo previously worked together on Dark Nights: Metal. This followup series will address plot and story points from across multiple DC titles, including Justice League, Year of the Villain, Batman/Superman and Dark Nights: Metal, as Earth has been affected by Dark Multiverse energy.

Dark Nights: Death Metal #1 by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion and FCO goes on sale May 13 from DC. Issues #2-3 will ship in June and July, and then issues #4-6 will ship in September, October and November, respectively.
