After seven main issues and a short story compilation, Dark Knights of Steel has raised the stakes higher than many DC Comics ongoing stories. Created by Tom Taylor and Yasmine Putri, this series reimagines the DC universe as a medieval tale that will satisfy any fantasy fans out there. Dark Knights of Steel is still in publication, but readers can already imagine where the series is heading.

Considering the current rivalries and alliances in the series, it's possible to theorize what its epic finale will look like. Whether it involves the clash of two titans or an unlikely alliance between characters who would otherwise hate each other, it's safe to say that Dark Knights of Steel is moving toward a legendary conclusion.

10 Both Kingdoms Will Fuse Into One

An image split down the middle, with the left half showing only the left half of Superman's silhouette, while the right half shows the right half of Batman's silhouette. Both characters are depicted as they're drawn in the Dark Knights of Steel series.

The main story of Dark Knights of Steel follows the conflict between the Kingdom of El, ruled by alien King Jor-El, and the Kingdom of Storms, ruled by King Jefferson. Given a prophecy that points to Jor-El and his family as the demons that will end the world, King Jefferson kills Jor-El, starting a feud that would drag many through the mud.

One way to end the conflict between both kingdoms would be to merge them into one. Considering both sides of the conflict, this wouldn't be peaceful, but it would definitely set the ground for one of the best pyrrhic victories in DC comics.

9 Elizabeth Arkham & Amanda Waller's Plans May Soon Get Out Of Control

Amanda Waller from Dark Knights of Steel

During Dark Knights of Steel: Tales of the Three Kingdoms, Zala, Kal-El, and Bruce discover that Elizabeth Arkham has been experimenting on the children of Arkham Orphanage. These children are turned into all kinds of magical creatures, clearly inspired by Batman's most iconic villains. During the detention, Amanda Waller doesn't take Arkham into prison. Instead, they strike a deal to keep experimenting.

In the main timeline, these actions probably have resulted in magic beings all around the kingdom. However, this can't be the end of it. Both Arkham and Waller clearly have a master plan that could blow up in their faces. Similarly, their newly created creatures could become a problem in the following issues.

8 Many Other Heroes Will Join Bruce Against The Kryptonians

So far, Dark Knights of Steels only has seven issues. While it has already introduced many important characters, (even if for a brief moment, like the Flash), this series is still missing many iconic members of the Justice League. Readers have yet to see Hawkgirl, Red Tornado, or even Aquaman — who already had a mentioned cameo as Martha and Jonathan Kent's adoptive son.

Even as a half-Kryptonian, the Bat-Prince will need as much help as possible to defeat the House of El. If the following issues were to introduce some of these characters as his allies, Bruce would stand a better chance against Kal-El and Zala.

7 Everyone Could Die A La Game Of Thrones

When Dark Knights of Steel was first announced, many fans were under the impression that the series would be a crossover with Game of Thrones. This, of course, wasn't the case. However, there's no reason this series couldn't pay homage to George R. R. Martin's work with ultimate carnage.

The conflict between the Kingdom of El and the Kingdom of Storms reminds fans of the fight for the Iron Throne. Given this, a high-stakes conflict, full of schemes and proper gutting, could easily take Dark Knights of Steel to the next level.

6 Both Kingdoms Could Unite Against The Green Man

Crafted by Tom Taylor, Bengal, Arif Prianto, and Wes Abbott, Dark Knights of Steel #4 revealed Alexander Luthor, aka the Green Man, as one of the biggest threats in the series. A former advisor of the House of El, Luthor found a magic ring that granted him great power.

The Green Man has since then used it to destroy the Els, by manipulating their enemies. An amalgamation of Lex Luthor, the Joker, and a twisted Green Lantern, the Green Man has become one of the most powerful characters in Dark Knights of Steel. Since his evil schemes make him the true villain of the story, maybe he'll be the key to uniting the kingdoms who attempt to defeat him.

5 Jacob Pierce Will Become The True Threat Of This War

In retaliation for her father's murder, Zala-El traveled to the Kingdom of Storms and murdered Prince Jacob, the only son of King Jefferson. Eventually, after the murder of the king, Constantine brought Jacob's body back to Ra's al Ghul. Ra's resurrected him, but not without warning Constantine that this might not be the Jacob he knew before.

This ominous warning might serve as a foreshadowing of Jacob's ultimate role in this Elseworld. Although he's an original character, Jacob represents elements from Dark Knights of Steel that should be canon. He's a magical prodigy, who now has a very tragic story. Hopefully, Taylor will give him more protagonism in the following issues.

4 There May Be Someone Behind The Kryptonians' Actions

Zala Denies Killing Anyone

Contrary to their main continuity counterparts, Superman and Supergirl, Kal-El and Zala have acted very suspiciously in Dark Knights of Steel. After her father's murder, Zala went to the Kingdom of Storms and killed Jacob, a whole army, and eventually King Jefferson. Kal-El stabbed Bruce when he discovered the truth about him and then eliminated Barry Allen when he saw him as a potential threat. However, when confronted with this, they denied it.

Nothing in Dark Knights of Steel has pointed to the fact that Zala and Kal-El are being controlled. However, fans find it hard to believe that these paragons of justice will be the true villains of the series. Some theorize that they will end up being controlled by something bigger that hasn't shown its face yet, but it's too soon to know. Maybe some things in this universe simply aren't like they are in Earth-Prime.

3 Zala Would Have To Die To Redeem Herself

Diana and Zala Kiss in Dark Knights of Steel

Since the series started, fans have been perplexed about Zala-El's moral alignment. While she's Diana's faithful lover and the daughter of honorable Jor-El, she has committed mass murder in an almost casual manner at least once. When confronted about it, Zala denied the allegations.

If Zala were to be a villain, there's still a way that she could redeem her in the readers' eyes: since her relationship with Diana is a central romance of the series, Zala could sacrifice herself to save this iteration of Wonder Woman. This would make for an impactful and heartbreaking conclusion to their queer romance.

2 The Bat-Prince Will Accept Magic In His Kingdom Once & For All

Aware that the Els' main weakness is magic, Bruce has spent his whole life chasing magic users in the kingdom, to keep the royal family as safe as possible. However, now that the family betrayed him, it's magic users who have lent him a hand.

Given this, the wise thing would be for the Bat-Prince to lift his restrictions on magic, finally accepting these characters as part of their society. This would be the most "happily ever after" conclusion possible for Dark Knights of Steel after years of governmental abuse on Bruce's part.

1 There Has To Be An Epic Battle Between Kal-El & The Bat-Prince

The last time Bruce and Kal-El crossed paths, Kal-El did something Bruce never expected: he stabbed him with Kryptonite and left him to die, ensuring he wouldn't be a threat anymore. However, the Bat-Prince survived, and now leads the resistance against the Kryptonians, even though he's a half-Kryptonian himself.

The best way Dark Knights of Steel could end is with a classic battle between DC's most iconic characters. This wouldn't be the first time Batman and Superman have fought, but the fact that the Bat-Prince now has powers could change everything. Hopefully, Taylor won't rob the fans from this highly anticipated moment.
