Official Press Release
DC Comics is pleased to announce that the December 7 issue of Entertainment Weekly, which goes on sale today, has an exclusive sneak peek feature on THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN, which hits comic book stores on Wednesday, December 5.
The coverage begins with the cover headline “Batman’s Back! Dark Knight Strikes Again,” which appears over the Entertainment Weekly logo. Inside, the contents page features an exclusive black-and-white portrait of Batman by Frank Miller, commissioned by the magazine.
For the first time anywhere, the first two pages from THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN #1 appear in full color on the opening spread of the article “A Knight to Remember,” in which Marc Bernardin looks at the high expectations for DK2, both in terms of content and sales, writing, “After 15 years away, comic-book visionary Frank Miller returns to his grim Gotham City roots for THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN, a three-part sequel to the graphic novel that changed the face of Batman.” The article goes on to discuss the impact that BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS had on comics in 1986 and includes quotes from Frank Miller, Editor Bob Schreck, Publicity Manager Peggy Burns, and Publisher Paul Levitz.
In the article, Miller states “In a way, you can compare these superheroes to characters out of Greek mythology… three of these characters, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are Gods. And they play by different rules.”
“Entertainment Weekly is one of the most vocal and consistent supporters of comic books in the mainstream press,” says Burns. “Ever since the inclusion of DK2 on their “IT List” in July 2001, they have been as excited as the rest of us and have been counting down the days to the release of DK2.”
