Dark Knight Rises, Cowboys & Aliens, The Mighty: Aug 1st Comic Reel

While talking with Total Film, actor Tom Hardy recalls his initial excitement over being asked to play Bane. “Hang on a minute. You’re asking me to come round the world with you in a Batman movie, playing a villain, and the only downside to it is I have to wear a mask? Hmmm, let me think. I’ll get back to you… No, I’m fucking there, man! Anything you need,” he said. Meanwhile, Spinoff Online rounded up some spoilerific pictures and videos. I’ll use the following pic because it features something we’ve all seen before, but if you want to see Bane’s complete costume, feel free to click through.

It probably still comes in black.

Release date: July 20th, 2012

In a Superhero Box Office update, Speakeasy reports that the film tied with “The Smurfs” over the weekend. “Both grossed $36.2 million over the weekend, according to early studio estimates. Final numbers will be released Monday and positions could then shift,” they write. The article also calls it a win for “Smurfs,” but a loss for “Cowboys.”

Starring Daniel Craig, release date: July 29th, 2011

Heat Vision reports that Drew Pearce, creator of the British sit-com “No Heroics” and a writer on “Iron Man 3,” has been tapped to adapt the Peter Tomasi/Keith Champagne comic book for Paramount. The article describes the project as centering on a “Superman-like hero and his relationship with a police officer who lands the plum job of being the man’s human handler. The relationship begins to fray when the officer begins to suspect that the hero adored the world-over is behind a series of ghastly murders.”

I haven’t posted news about the upcoming “Alien” quasi-prequel in a while because all the interesting stuff keeps getting pulled down; but no longer! Dread Central (via Ain’t It Cool News) has snapshots from the the trailer screened at Comic-Con. Here’s one that really harkens back to the first film:

Directed by Ridley Scott, release date: 2012

You always here about it, but you never expect it to happen to you … until it does. I have the dreaded Comic-Con virus. I’m taking the rest of the day to recuperate and get caught up with some TV shows on Netflix. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of the sick-day ahead.
