Official Press Release

Dark Horse Comics has announced that Serenity #1, the first issue in the mini-series based on Joss Whedon's upcoming sci-fi epic, has sold out at the publisher and Diamond and will go back to press!

Demand for the red-hot new mini-series has been so high that the book sold out almost immediately upon initial shipping! To help ease the burden on retailers, Dark Horse will have new printings of Serenity #1 available in two weeks time. Furthermore, the publisher will fill first printing codes with new printing comics, as well as offer them in an upcoming edition of Previews Plus. Dark Horse will also allow retailers who don't wish to sell new printing issues to cancel back orders. [Please Note: Retailers who wish to cancel back orders should contact their Diamond Customer Service Representative by Wednesday, August 3. The original printing codes are: John Cassaday (MAY050013D), Bryan Hitch (MAY050014D), and J.G. Jones (MAY050015D).]

Written by Whedon and Brett Matthews, and illustrated by Will Conrad & Laura Martin, Serenity #1 finds Mal Reynolds and company in a familiar situation: broke, and on the wrong side of a number of very large firearms. Readers should expect cinematic action and offbeat characters in the Whedon mold, dynamically illustrated.

Each issue of Serenity will feature three covers, one for each member of the Serenity crew, drawn by the biggest names in comics. Issue #1 features covers by superstar artists John Cassaday (JUN058085D), Bryan Hitch (JUN058086D), and J.G. Jones (JUN058084D).

The new printing issues of Serenity #1 are now available for order.
