Before Assassin's Creed Valhalla debuts on game systems this holiday season, a three-issue prequel series will be released by Dark Horse Comics. Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Song of Glory will focus on main character Eivor after she witnesses an attack by a neighboring kingdom. Meanwhile, another Viking seeks an artifact for mysterious reasons.

The series is written by Cavan Scott, with art by Martin Tunica and colors by Michael Atiyeh. The first issue is set to release on October 21. Dark Horse will also publish regular and deluxe editions of The Art of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which tie in with the game's release.

A synopsis for the series follows below:

Blades clash in this prequel to Ubisoft’s next hit video game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Written by Cavan Scott (Star Wars Adventures, Vikings), illustrated by Martin Tunica, and colored by Michael Atiyeh (The Orville, Dragon Age: Blue Wraith), Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Song of Glory takes readers back to a Mid-9thCentury Norway.

Eivor, a Viking warrior, observes a village raided by a neighboring kingdom. Bloodshed and mayhem erupt as she seizes the attack in her own favor—but will her victory be a blessing to her clan or a terrible curse? Elsewhere, another Viking searches for a different kind of prize, one of crucible steel . . .

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Song of Glory #1 (of three) will be in comic shops on October 21, 2020. It is available for pre-order at your local comic shop.

While Song of Glory stars Eivor as a woman, those who purchase the game will be able to switch between male and female versions of the character at any point in the game.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla arrives on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Google Stadia November 17.
