Unmaker, the next big threat to the Marvel Universe, will be introduced in Tom Taylor and Iban Coello's Dark Ages event series.

Marvel released a promotional teaser for Dark Ages by Ryan Stegman that gives fans their first look at the enormous new villain. While the name Unmaker does not appear on the artwork, its filename displays as "DARKAGES-Unmaker." The logline for the teaser reads, "Who Did You Become When The Lights Went Out?"

Dark Ages teaser for new Marvel threat Unmaker

Unmaker appears to be a massive being that easily towers over city buildings. Its body is made up of armor with green energy cascading from various parts of its body. Considering its size and armored exterior, it's possible Unmaker is a member of the Celestials or another alien race in the Marvel Universe. The solicitation for Dark Ages revealed that Earth's heroes would unite -- and fail -- against a new threat.

"I'm excited to team up with the brilliant Iban Coello on one of the most epic stories I've ever been involved in," Taylor said when Dark Ages was officially announced. "Marvel's Dark Ages is a story unlike any we've told before. And it all begins with the shocking revelation of what the Watcher has been watching for. A danger older than the Earth threatens everything. And for once, the heroes who have saved the planet time and again find themselves almost completely powerless in the face of it. X-Men and Avengers will assemble. Spider-people and the Fantastic Four will come together. Heroes for Hire will fight alongside Champions. But none of it will be enough. The lights are about to go out... forever."
