As fans are still reeling two months after the surprise cancellation of Daredevil on Netflix, star Charlie Cox reveals a bit of what was planned for an unrealized fourth season.
In a new interview, Cox explained that the upcoming season would have focused more on the antagonistic relationship between Daredevil and Bullseye after the final scene of the third season ended ominously with Agent Benjamin Poindexter showing the villain's familiar logo in his eye as he received reconstructive surgery.
"I was looking forward to Wilson Bethel kind of getting to inhabit the character of Bullseye," admitted Cox in an interview with Inverse. "Season 3 was kind of an origin story for the character and how Agent Poindexter becomes that character. So I was looking forward to having a season where he really embodies the Bullseye persona and what that dynamic would be between Bullseye and Daredevil."
Pre-production on a fourth season was reportedly far along with the season expected to begin principal photography in February before its sudden cancellation, leaving the cliffhanger ending with Bullseye unresolved.
Now available on Netflix, Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Joanne Whalley as Sister Maggie, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter, Jay Ali as Rahul “Ray” Nadeem and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.
