Netflix's Daredevil was known for up close and personal fight scenes which often took place in hallways, and star Charlie Cox was happy to see the tradition upheld -- albeit with a twist -- when he reprised the character in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Cox reacted to the scene during an interview with Marvel.com, saying, "It's so cool. I read that. It was so clever." In the episode, Tatiana Maslany's character Jen Walters enters the fight in true She-Hulk fashion, reminding the audience that it's her show and not Daredevil's. "It's so clever, and it's good because it's cool because at least you've got some of it," Cox elaborated. "It starts, so you get to feel like, oh, cool, we've got a hallway stunt fight scene. But then there's that excellent kind of drop-the-mic moment where She-Hulk comes into the room."

"That was so clever," Cox reiterated. He credited She-Hulk's head writer for the way that the bait-and-switch played out on the screen: "Jessica Gao is amazing. I absolutely loved working with her. I thought her scripts were sensational, and it was a real pleasure."

Daredevil's Reputation for Fighting His Way Down the Hall

Daredevil Season 1 premiered on Netflix in 2015, starring Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer by day whose secret identity was the so-called Devil of Hell's Kitchen. The show quickly established a theme of realistic, brutal fight scenes, with its second episode ending in an impressive single-shot brawl that took place entirely within a narrow hallway. Each following season featured another hallway fight as a kind of trademark.

Although Daredevil had a devoted fan base and spawned several interconnecting spinoff series, each focused on a different street-level hero from Marvel Comics, the show was canceled in 2018 after running for three seasons. Fans persistently lobbied for Cox to be brought back as Murdock in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until he finally made a cameo in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. His return in She-Hulk prefaces a new show centered on his own character, with Daredevil: Born Again scheduled to hit Disney+ with 18 episodes in 2024.

Cox credits fans for his return to the role, recently stating, "Whatever happens to my career going forward from this point on, I owe most of it to the 'Save Daredevil' campaign."

All episodes of Daredevil are available to stream now on Disney+. Cox as Daredevil can also be seen in the eighth and ninth episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, also streaming on Disney+.
