"Daredevil's" Bernthal Is "Ready" For A "Punisher" TV Series

In an interview conducted prior to Marvel Television Executive Vice President Jeph Loeb's debunking of the rumor that a "Punisher" series is in the works, the man who plays Frank Castle, Jon Bernthal, said he hopes the show becomes a reality.

"We're the last to know about these things," Bernthal told Empire regarding a potential solo series run. "But this guy is burned into my heart and soul. I think about him all the time. And I look at it the same way Frank would look at it. I'm a soldier, man. If they call on me, I'll stand to attention, and I'll be ready."

Earlier this week, Loeb broke the Internet's collective heart when he declared rumors of a "Punisher" series coming to Netflix were exactly that .

"I think that's something that people are speculating on, as opposed to something that's actually happening," Loeb said of the theorized "Daredevil" spinoff.

Starring Charlie Cox, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Elodie Yung and Bernthal, "Daredevil" Season 2 arrives on Netflix March 18.
