Marvel Comics has begun to release more teasers for its upcoming 2019 event series, War of the Realms. Spinning out of the runs on runs on Mighty Thor and Thor by writer Jason Aaron and artists Russell Dauterman and Matthew Wilson, War of the Realms will see the Dark Elf Malekith bring his crusade against the Ten Realms to Midgard.

Thor's allies in the Avengers and from across the Marvel Universe will have unite to try to stop the invasion, as depicted on the newly released cover to War of the Realms #1 by legendary artist Arthur Adams. The thunder god is shown fighting alongside his teammates, as well as Spider-Man, Luke Cage, The Punisher, Doctor Strange, Daredevil, Wolverine and others, against Frost Giants from Jotunheim, Dark Elves from Svartalfheim, Fire Demons from Muspelheim and Angels from Heaven.

The sheer number of characters is a lot to take in, but one hero who stands out is the Man Without Fear, Daredevil. The defender of Hell's Kitchen has a prime spot near the center of the image right next to Thor, and his costume is imbued with purple light in various spots. Also, Daredevil's eyes glow purple. Seeing as how he's a street-level hero and his only abilities are heightened senses, that suggests he has been granted new powers for War of the Realms. And if the color is any indication, Daredevil has the Asgardian powers of Heimdall, the All-Seer.

Heimdall is the protector of the Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge, which permits Asgardians to travel between the Ten Realms. Unfortunately, the Bifrost was destroyed in the Mangog's rampage, leaving Thor unable to provide help to any realms attacked by Malekith. Heimdall's all-seeing eyes were also a casualty of the Mangog..

A blind Heimdall mirrors the blind Matt Murdock. Both characters can still "see," through other methods, so it wouldn't be much of a stretch for Daredevil to find himself with a cosmic upgrade during War of the Realms. The biggest clue is Daredevil's glowing eyes match those of Heimdall.

Of course, another possibility is what we're seeing is Daredevil manifesting the powers of Captain Universe. The Marvel Prime Universe's Enigma Force last appeared in Spider-Geddon #5, when it bonded with Miles Morales, granting him the powers of Captain Universe for a brief. Once the Inheritors were defeated, the Enigma Force left Miles to await another worthy host.

Although it could be the powers of Captain Universe coursing through Daredevil's body and costume, we're going to stick to our initial theory of Daredevil replacing Heimdall on Midgard, making the Man Without Fear ... the Man With Asgardian Sight.

War of the Realms, by Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman and Matthew Wilson, debuts in April from Marvel Comics.
