Actor Vincent D’Onofrio will reprise his role as Wilson Fisk for Season 3 of Marvel's Daredevil television series on Netflix.

Announced today by Marvel, the actor will once again antagonize star Charlie Cox's titular hero. D’Onofrio's Fisk served as the show's primary villain in Season 1, and made an appearance in prison during Season 2. Executive producer and Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb explained to Deadline, "Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk.”

Along with the news of the return of Fisk, Season 3 will have a new showrunner in Erik Olsen. The show's new head previously served as executive producer and writer on Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, and was a co-executive producer for Arrow. When asked about the hiring, Loeb stated, "We’re very excited how Marvel’s Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner.”

Daredevil has gone through several showrunners since 2015. Steven S. DeKnight served in the role before Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez took over for the second season. Both Petrie and Ramirez left to work on The Defenders.

The Defenders' closing scenes hinted that the third season of Daredevil could borrow elements from “Born Again,” the seminal story arc in which Kingpin learns Matt Murdock’s secret identity and systematically dismantles his life. If that’s the case, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk will obviously loom large in the new season.

Though a specific release date for Daredevil Season 3 has not been announced, the series will return in 2018.
