Two weeks ago, Netflix surprised audiences by canceling its Marvel original series Iron Fist. The cast and crew of other Marvel Netflix series have since expressed their feelings about the news, including new Daredevil showrunner Erik Oleson.

While promoting the recently released third season of Daredevil, Oleson was asked about his thoughts on the cancellation of Iron Fist.

"I’m close, personal friends with [Iron Fist showrunner] Raven Metzner and a number of folks who worked on that show, and I’m sad for my friends. The Marvel shows are a family. As the showrunner of Daredevil, I’m always rooting for my fellow showrunners and their families, and it was a hard blow," revealed Oleson in an interview with The Playlist. "I took Raven out for drinks on Saturday night and we commiserated. It was heartbreaking news. I don’t know what the future holds in terms of Netflix and Marvel and the new Disney streaming service and all of that."

Despite this, along with last week's surprise cancellation of Netflix's Luke Cage after two seasons, Oleson remains hopeful that audiences have not seen the last of Danny Rand.

"Who knows what the future holds?" mused Oleson. "I wouldn’t put it past anyone that [Iron Fist] comes back in some other form at some point."

In the meantime, all of Marvel's Netflix original series are available to stream through the service including Season 3 of Daredevil and Season 2 of Iron Fist.
