Daredevil's Solo Series Pits Him Against the Avengers

In Zdarsky and Checchetto's Daredevil series, Matt Murdock found himself becoming one of the leaders of a group called the Fist, an army of super-powered ninjas (with one of the recruits being Matt's best friend Foggy Nelson, among others) that was created to oppose the Hand. In order to become the Hand's leader, Matt had to partake in a ritual that involved him marrying Elektra Natchios, an act which came at an especially bad time as Matt was just starting to become reacquainted with another one of his ex-girlfriends, Kirsten McDuffie.

Since then, Matt and the Fist have been on a collision course with the Punisher/Frank Castle, who was appointed leader of the Hand and gifted with superpowers in exchange for the resurrection of his wife, Maria. The most recent issue of the series, Daredevil #8 (by Zdarsky, Checchetto, Matthew Wilson, Erick Arciniega and VC's Clayton Cowles), saw the Hand and the Fist go to war with another in an epic battle that left Elektra seriously injured and Frank victorious. Following their retreat, Matt promised Elektra they'd regroup and find a way to defeat the Hand once and for all; however, unbeknownst to Matt and Elektra, Captain America/Steve Rogers, Spider-Man/Peter Parker and Iron Man/Tony Stark are tracking the Fist from afar. The trio agree they need to find a way to stop Matt at the end of Daredevil #8, thus putting the titular hero on a collision course with the Avengers.

The story continues in Daredevil #9, which releases Mar. 29, 2023, from Marvel. The synopsis for the issue reads, "For over three years, Daredevil’s life has been a living hell—between the Stromwyns, the Hand and his time incarcerated and exposed to ReCID. Now all of those dangerous forces are coming together and threatening everything Matt Murdock holds dear!"

Daredevil #8 features cover art by Checchetto and Wilson and variant cover art by AKA, Elena Casagrande, Jordie Bellaire and Terry and Rachelle Dodson. The issue is on sale now from Marvel.
