Daredevil has his work cut out for him in the upcoming third season of the Netflix drama, because Wilson Fisk is leaving prison — and he's coming for Matt Murdock.
A new promo devoted to Vincent D'Onofrio's fan-favorite antagonist reveals a darker turn for the Marvel villain, as he plots revenge against the man who put him in prison.
"The Devil took my throne, my freedom, and everything that mattered," Fisk muses, as he sits behind a table in prison. "But my eyes are open now. And he'll never see me coming."
Fisk ends the promo by taunting Murdock from the shadows. "So, go ahead," he barks, "let the Devil out!" Netflix previously released a promo featuring Murdock slowly growing unhinged following the events of The Defenders and Daredevil Season 2. In the clip, he threatens to "let the Devil out," in his efforts to better contain crime, and survive Fisk.
The latest promo once again touches on the eerie parallels between Murdock and the Kingpin, both devoted to the city they love, although in different ways. In the promo, Fisk cries, "Love blinded me. My love for this city, my love for her."
Season 3 is reportedly inspired by the classic Marvel Comics storyline "Born Again" by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli. In the 1986 arc, Fisk learns Daredevil's secret identity, and exacts revenge my systematically destroying his life and his reputation.
Arriving Oct. 19 on Netflix, Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Joanne Whaley, Vincent D’Onofrio and Wilson Bethel.
