After months of speculation, the third season of Daredevil will indeed premiere on Netflix before the end of the year.
In a quarterly earnings call with investors, Netflix Chief Financial Officer David Wells confirmed the inaugural Marvel Netflix Original Series will return sometime in 2018. The confirmation came with Wells listing various original content to premiere or return in the final half of the year.
"We’ve got new seasons coming up the second half of this year of Orange Is The New Black, Ozark, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Narcos, the finale of House of Cards, the followup series for Making a Murderer," explained Wells in terms of what to expect from the premium streaming service in the second half of 2018.
The confirmation makes this year the biggest for the MCU's offerings on Netflix to date with the second season of Jessica Jones premiering in March, the second season of Luke Cage arriving in June, and the second season of Iron Fist scheduled to premiere on September 7. With a gap of approximately three months between premieres, this would put the third season of Daredevil on track for a December release if the pattern continues.
Principal photography on Season 3 wrapped this past May and is rumored to be inspired by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's classic Daredevil storyline Born Again. In the meantime, the Marvel/Netflix co-productions have only continued to gain momentum with the second season of The Punisher and third season of Jessica Jones both currently in production.
Daredevil stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, and Joanne Whaley. It is developed for television by Drew Goddard with Erik Oleson serving as showrunner and executive producer. The series is confirmed to return for its third season sometime in 2018.
