After Marvel decided to stop airing their Netflix shows, fans have been looking for ways that the Defenders could return to the MCU. Starting with Daredevil and eventually uniting in The Defenders, these shows were fan-favorites. After their cancellations, disappointed audiences weren’t sure what to expect next from Marvel.

However, with the recent success of shows like The Mandalorian and WandaVision, it seems that there are even more opportunities for Disney+ to expand on the universe of Daredevil. If Daredevil were to return to the Marvel universe on screen, there are several potential existing opportunities to spin off the original show.

10 Matt Murdock As The MCU’s Lawyer — After documents like the Sokovia Accords, the Avengers need someone with a knowledge of the law to help them out

Charlie Cox in Marvel's Daredevil Season 3

As the MCU has shown time and time again, the Avengers could do with a lawyer or two on their side. After documents like the Sokovia Accords, the Avengers need someone with a knowledge of the law to help them out. Matt Murdock could be exactly that lawyer.

Additionally, there have been rumors that Matt Murdock will be returning in the third Spider-Man movie in the MCU as Spider-Man’s lawyer. If this is true, then he could receive an entire spin-off show on his own as the MCU’s lawyer. Much like characters like Nick Fury are the MCU’s mentor, this could create an entire niche for Matt Murdock to exist permanently in-universe.

9 Nelson, Murdock, & Page — The three of them could sustain their own law show, even a mildly superpowered one

Matt Murdock, Karen Page and Foggy Nelson in Daredevil

At the end of Daredevil, before the show got canceled, Matt Murdock and his partner, Foggy Nelson, agreed to rename their law firm. They instead named it “Nelson, Murdock, & Page,” thus including Karen Page in it. Once their secretary and now a self-taught private investigator in her own right, Karen Page has her own set of skills comparable to Matt’s crime-fighting and Foggy’s lawyer abilities.

The three of them could sustain their own law show, even a mildly superpowered one. This show could have the style of a Law & Order program, whether in parody or in sincerity; it could even have a Night Court vibe. Either way, this show has a lot of grounding potential for an MCU that’s currently seeking some stability.

8 A New Romantic Comedy — Charlie Cox & Elden Henson have shown support for Matt & Foggy's relationship, & would probably be open to a romcom-esque show that focused more on their characters being happy for a change

Foggy Nelson in Marvel's Netflix series, Daredevil

Matt Murdock is something of a flirt, as the comics, the movies, and the television shows have displayed more than once. While Matt often flirts with characters like Karen Page or Elektra Natchios, some fans were more interested in Matt and Foggy’s relationship in Netflix’s Daredevil. The chemistry between the two is undeniable.

After an entire episode dedicated to their relationship in the first season, this ship gained a lot of traction on the internet. The actors who play Matt and Foggy, Charlie Cox and Elden Henson, have shown support for this relationship, and would probably be open to a romcom-esque show that focused more on their characters being happy for a change, after the darkness of Daredevil.

7 The Defenders On Disney+ — if Disney+ were to pick up a continuation of The Defenders, then Daredevil could live on through this program

While The Defenders only received one season on Netflix, each of the four main characters — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist — received their own origin shows. With so much backstory, it’s a shame that The Defenders couldn’t have more time to run. However, if Disney+ were to pick up a continuation of The Defenders, then Daredevil could live on through this program.

It wouldn’t be ideal, as the show would only be about Matt Murdock for 25% of the time, but it’s better than nothing. Daredevil has been off-air for some time now, and audiences are clamoring to see even 25% of a show about him, if anything at all.

6 Kingpin As A Villain Elsewhere — If he were to start appearing in other shows as a villain, then Matt Murdock could follow after him to help out

Kingpin MCU

One of the standout performances in Daredevil — and there were many — was Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin. While the Kingpin is one of Daredevil’s main villains, he’s also a huge primary villain in Marvel Comics. As the Kingpin fans saw on Daredevil is incredibly powerful and more than capable of rising to the top of any administration he chose, it could be possible for him to appear elsewhere.

If he were to start appearing in other shows as a villain, then Matt Murdock could follow after him to help out whichever hero had to fight him next. Even if Daredevil never did show up, it would be a treat just to see D’Onofrio return to the role he continuously excelled in.

5 Alternate Universe Appearances — characters could meet alternate universe versions of themselves & Daredevil has quite a few of those

Doctor strange about to use magic

Doctor Strange will be introducing the concept of multiverses, most likely, in the upcoming MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It seems that this concept may be introduced even earlier. Movies like the upcoming Spider-Man sequel and shows like WandaVision on Disney+ have already begun alluding to the existence of alternate universes within the MCU.

As this concept gets explored further and further, it seems more and more likely that there will be multiple alternate universes appearing within the MCU. If this is the case, then characters can meet alternate universe versions of themselves — and Daredevil has quite a few of those. There’s even a dark version of Daredevil who does evil deeds, and he would be quite exciting to see onscreen.

4 An Entire Show For Karen Page — She definitely has the skill to pull off a show of her own

deborah ann woll as karen page

If Nelson, Murdock, & Page can carry an entire show then, quite frankly, Karen Page can carry a show on her own. Deborah Ann Woll, who portrayed Karen Page in Daredevil, has previously starred in other shows like True Blood and played a major role in the Daredevil spin-off The Punisher.

She definitely has the skill to pull off a show of her own. If Nelson and Murdock are incapable of returning for a spin-off, then Page is more than capable of having her own show.

3 Training The New Defenders — If the B-level Avengers team consisting of only four members is now already defunct, then who better than Daredevil to train the new one?

hawkeye and kate bishop

Like Steve Rogers trying to train up the new Avengers, it would be smart for someone to start training up new Defenders. The world will always need superheroes and, apparently, so will New York, specifically. If the B-level Avengers team consisting of only four members is now already defunct, then who better than Daredevil to train the new one?

Characters like Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye are being brought to Disney+, so it’s likely that these new teams will be brought in sooner rather than later.

2 Unifying Force For Disney+, Netflix, & the MCU — Matt Murdock could become a unifying figure for all

daredevil and spider-man together

Like Nick Fury trying to unite the original MCU movies, the separate mediums presenting the MCU now need their own unifying factor. Some fans speculate that Daredevil would be the best possible option for this. As Daredevil has already appeared on Netflix, and will likely be appearing soon in the MCU, he’ll already be threading those narratives together.

By introducing a brand-new Daredevil spin-off to the Disney+ series of shows connected to the MCU, Matt Murdock would become the most unifying figure of all.

1 Team Red On The Small Screen — Spider-Man, Daredevil, Deadpool, & Johnny Storm could join together to form the fan-favorite Team Red

Deadpool Daredevil feautre

Marvel’s First Family will be appearing on the silver screen soon, which means that Johnny Storm will finally be joining the MCU. This comes with the news that Daredevil will soon be joining the MCU, as well. Fans recognize the team being slowly assembled here. As Spider-Man is already in the MCU and Daredevil is present on the sidelines, these four could join together to form the fan-favorite Team Red.

Most frequently, Team Red is known to have Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Deadpool; sometimes, Johnny Storm, or the Human Torch, is included too. All four of these men are now in the MCU, and a spin-off show about the four of them would undoubtedly be a success.
