Marvel's Daredevil has been cancelled by Netflix and will not return for a fourth season.

“Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix,” the company told Deadline. “We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.”

According to the report, Netflix's relationship with Marvel has become "strained." The cancellation was also chalked up to "creative differences" and the companies' inability to strike a deal, particularly in regards to each season's episode count and the massive price tag they incurred.

Prior to Daredevil's cancellation, Netflix also axed its sister series Iron Fist and Luke Cage, which had already turned in scripts for a third season. This slew of cancellations doesn't bode well for Jessica Jones and The Punisher, both of which have recently completed filming their next seasons. Nevertheless, the two surviving Marvel Netflix series will air as planned.

Now available on Netflix, Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Joanne Whalley as Sister Maggie, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter, Jay Ali as Rahul “Ray” Nadeem and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.
