Daredevil turned himself over to the police to stand trial for the murder of a criminal he was trying to take down. Luckily for the Man Without Fear, he went before a sympathetic judge.
While many people warned him to stop his vigilante act, including Spider-Man, Daredevil set off in costume again to try to solve the problems in Hell's Kitchen, and he went to another hero for help. Daredevil asked Tony Stark to step up to the plate to help him.
While fighting some gun runners, Iron Man showed up at Daredevil's request. He told Daredevil he already called the police, used a repulsor to destroy the guns, and then asked Daredevil to come back to his place to talk.
Stark opened up their conversation with small talk, saying how much he hates secret identities, but Daredevil has a great comeback when he says all Stark's loved ones live in a fortified castle, so he doesn't need to worry about them. Stark also didn't understand why Daredevil turned himself in, thinking it was just a way for him to show the public that superheroes are not above regular people. Daredevil once again rejected Stark's comments, saying he turned himself in because it was the right thing to do. After that, Matt got down to business. He explained why he called Tony Stark for this meeting.
Daredevil is not just battling in the courts after he took the life of a villain. He is also fighting Kingpin, who is ruling over Hell's Kitchen as the mayor while also working alongside the Power Elite. He is also battling the wealthy villains pulling Kingpin's strings right now in the Stromwyns, who plan on buying up all of Hell's Kitchen and putting everyone out onto the streets. Daredevil wants Stark to present a counteroffer and buy Hell's Kitchen. He then wants him to take a financial loss by selling it back at a low enough price so that the people who live there can buy it and live in peace.
Of course, Stark is a hero, but he is also a businessman, and he knows this will cost him billions of dollars. As he tells Daredevil, it crazy to ask him to do something like that. Of course, Daredevil won't back down because he knows it is the right thing to do. Iron Man spends his time defeating giant-sized threats all the time to save the world, but this is a chance to help protect people on the ground level who face an uncertain future due to a different kind of villain. And with Stark, he has the resources to battle these villains on their level.
In the new Iron Man series, Tony Stark is trying to reinvent himself. He attempts to get people to look at him differently and not see the selfish playboy who only thinks about himself. This is a chance to do more than talk the talk, and Daredevil is giving him the opportunity to do something to help people who need it and stop evil people like the Stromwyns from destroying them. Stark got $65 billion in his buyout from Stark Industries. He can afford to help people on the streets, and it is time to see if he is all talk or if he is willing to be a different kind of hero in Hell's Kitchen.
