Disney+'s Daredevil show will reportedly be a continuation of the original Netflix series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources state that Disney+'s Daredevil will be the first of Marvel's Netflix shows to receive a continuation of its original series. Premiering in 2015, Daredevil introduced audiences to Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who secretly moonlighted as a crime-fighting vigilante. The series ran for 39 episodes across three seasons before it was canceled, along with the other Marvel Netflix series Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher. All five shows, plus the Defenders team-up miniseries, were recently ported to Disney+.

Since the mass cancellation of Marvel's Netflix shows, fans have wondered if the characters will reappear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. These hopes were fulfilled in 2021, when Cox made a cameo appearance as Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Vincent D'Onofrio returned as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the final two episodes of Hawkeye.

A new Daredevil series was recently revealed to be in development at Disney+ with Matt Corman and Chris Ord serving as head writers and executive producers. Erik Oleson and Steven S. DeKnight, who were showrunners on the Netflix series, both expressed excitement and appreciation at seeing the Man Without Fear return to the small screen. "Thrilled to learn that #Daredevil lives on! Best cast and best fan base EVER!" Oleson tweeted in response to the news.

In addition to the Daredevil continuation, both Cox and D'Onofrio are purported reported to reprise their roles in Echo, a spinoff from Hawkeye that stars Alaqua Cox as Deaf gang leader Maya Lopez. According to an official synopsis, Echo will see Maya leave New York and return to her hometown and reconnect with her Native American roots, only to see her past catch up to her. The cast list includes Native actors Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning and Graham Greene in unknown roles, as well as Zahn McClarnon reprising his Hawkeye role as Maya's late father, William Lopez. The series is set to release sometime in 2023.

What the future holds for the Marvel Netflix characters outside of Daredevil is unknown at this time. Jessica Henwick, who co-starred in Iron Fist, has said she would love the chance to play martial artist Colleen Wing again. Recently, Krysten Ritter was shown sporting a familiar hairstyle and leather jacket, leading to speculation that she's gearing up to reprise her starring role as private investigator Jessica Jones.

All three seasons of Daredevil are available to stream on Disney+.
