Demiplane announced Children of Éarte a new Dungeons & Dragons actual play helmed by veteran Dungeon Master Deborah Ann Woll.Revealed via a cryptic teaser trailer, Children of Éarte will utilize D&D Fifth Edition to weave a sweeping fairytale narrative. Demiplane confirmed that the series will be an ongoing project, meaning that fans will be treated to weekly episodes chronicling the adventures of the game's cast. Beyond Woll serving as the game's DM, the party will comprise a variety of experienced tabletop role-players including Hope LaVelle, Lauren Urban, Alicia Marie, Jennifer Kretchmer and Adam Bradford.
While no details on the campaign's plot have been revealed, fans of the format wanting to learn a little more about Woll's world can catch Episode 0 when it debuts on Twitch in the near future. This initial session will lay the foundations for Children of Éarte, establishing the rules of the universe while also giving viewers a brief introduction to the cast of characters. Woll has revealed that the game's heroes will initially appear to be normal humans but as the story unfolds, details on their fantastical backgrounds will be revealed.
Beyond being an accomplished Dungeon Master, Woll has starred in several beloved series including Netflix's Daredevil and True Blood. The beloved actor has become very familiar with handling live-streamed Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, running the popular show Relics and Rarities. Woll has also appeared on popular series like Force Grey and the hyper-successful Critical Role.
Dungeons & Dragons has exploded in popularity in recent years, with developer and publisher Wizards of the Coasts celebrating one of its lucrative years in 2021. The rise of livestreamed actual play games is widely considered to be one of the core reasons the tabletop RPG has expanded so rapidly in recent years, with the aforementioned Critical Role leading the charge. The series has proven so popular that it's even earned itself an animated adaption, The Legend of Vox Machina, on Amazon Prime Video.
Children of Éarte can be caught on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. PT on the Demiplane Twitch channel. Episode 0 premieres on March 8, while the adventure begins in earnest the week after.
