Vincent D'Onofrio is back as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in a new photo from the set of Marvel Studios' Daredevil: Born Again.

Shared on Reddit, the photo shows D'Onofrio wearing a gray suit and black overcoat instead of the character's more iconic white outfit. The image also reveals a mysterious green-screened circle behind D'Onofrio, which will seemingly be replaced in post-production with an unknown visual effect, as well as extras dressed as construction workers. Filming on Daredevil: Born Again's 18-episode first season began in February 2023 in New York City under the working title "Out the Kitchen" and is expected to last until December 2023.

Daredevil: Born Again will mark D'Onofrio's fourth time playing Kingpin after Netflix's Daredevil series, the limited series Hawkeye and the upcoming Disney+ series Echo. While plot details for Born Again remain under wraps, the series is believed to be pulling from the "Mayor Fisk" storyline in the comics. Furthermore, D'Onofrio's appearances in Echo will reportedly be laying the groundwork for Kingpin running for mayor of New York City in Born Again.

The Future of Kingpin in the MCU

Marvel Cinematic Universe fans last saw Kingpin getting shot in the head by Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez in the Hawkeye finale, which will be reportedly addressed in Echo via the character wearing an eye patch. Since D'Onofrio is noticeably not wearing the protective piece of fabric in the Born Again set photo, it is possible that the scene being filmed is a flashback set before Hawkeye or that Fisk's eye injury has healed by the time the events of Born Again begin.

Although cameras are still rolling on the super-sized first season of the series, D'Onofrio has stated that a second season of Daredevil: Born Again is already being discussed by Marvel Studios and will focus on the aftermath of Season 1's events. "By the second season, there are gigantic, gigantic payoffs—in the first season, too, but I can't say much about that—but the fans are gonna really get what they want," the actor teased. "It's really quite cool to be doing it."

Vincent D'Onofrio Wants Kingpin to Fight Spider-Man

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 might not be the only future MCU project D'Onofrio finds himself part of. The actor teased that he is still itching to exchange blows with Tom Holland's Spider-Man on the big screen, stating at the recent GalaxyCon, "I have a strong feeling, and I've said this since I started the Netflix show, that eventually I'm going to kick Spider-Man's ass." With Spider-Man 4 rumored to be connected to "the aftermath of Daredevil: Born Again," it's possible that D'Onofrio could appear as Kingpin in the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios co-production. It is important to note however that a fourth MCU-set Spider-Man film has not been officially announced yet, although Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that they have settled on a story.

Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
