Recent set photos of Daredevil: Born Again may have just confirmed when the show takes place during the Marvel Cinematic Universe's timeline.Posted to Twitter by Daredevil Updates, the image includes protagonist Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) standing in front of what appears to be a New York City church. The notice board on his left bears the date March 15, 2020, suggesting Born Again takes place just after the events of 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Many fans have taken this to mean the show is set during what is known as "The Blip," the in-fiction name given to the devastating global event which saw Thanos wipe out half of the universe with the Infinity Stones. Neither Marvel Studios nor Disney has officially confirmed the Daredevil revival's place in the MCU. Related: Daredevil: Born Again Lands Dexter Director for Pilot Episode

While Born Again's setting remains shrouded in speculation, the Disney+ project is slowly reintegrating plenty of familiar fans Marvel fans will undoubtedly recognize from Netflix's Defenders Saga. Not only is fan-favorite actor Cox reprising his role, but he'll also be joined by Vincent D'Onofrio returning to play Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin once again. Daredevil won't be the only crimefighter the intimidating crimelord will need to contend with as Jon Bernthal's Punisher is also set to appear, an announcement that has some fans concerned about how the show will handle some of the characters' dark traits.

Netflix's depiction of Daredevil and The Punisher were both gritty representations of the characters, deviating from Marvel Studios' traditional PG-13 rating to deliver more violence and blood. Given the pair's introduction into the MCU, some fear that their brutality will be stripped to stick for the more "family-friendly" tone of the franchise. Addressing enthusiasts lobbying for a TV-MA reboot, Cox has noted that he envisions something different for the story. "I would say to those people, we’ve done that," the actor said. "Let’s take the things that really worked, but can we broaden? Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works?"

Despite these concerns, many reports allege that Born Again will retain the original show's TV-MA energy, with some even stating that current Disney CEO Bob Iger is insisting it avoids a PG-13 rating. Many of these claims have yet to be verified and the set photos that have appeared online don't give away anything regarding the show's action.

Daredevil: Born Again is slated to premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
