Daredevil: Born Again is designed to be a standalone series.

Speaking to Extra, series star Charlie Cox noted that when discussing Born Again with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the show was described as a beginning rather than a continuation of the Netflix series. "It is a Season 1, it is not Season 4, so it is a whole new thing," Cox said. "Which I think is the way to go. If you are going to do it again, do it differently." Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been questioning how Matt Murdock's new series will slot into the expansive franchise. Many assumed that the character's cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home was confirmation that Netflix's Daredevil is canon within the MCU but this has yet to be confirmed or denied.

When asked about Born Again's plot, Cox replied that he's still very much in the dark regarding the story. "I haven’t seen a script…" Cox admitted. "My feeling is, based on the title Born Again, I think that the sense is it is a new beginning, it is going to be different, it is going to be totally different. It is going to be new stories, and new ideas." While details on the series' narrative are still scarce, Marvel Studios has confirmed that Vincent D'Onofrio will reprise his role as Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin, who was last seen in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.

Daredevil Gets a Sense of Humor?

With so much mystery still surrounding the upcoming Daredevil series, many fans have expressed concern that the show will feature a more comedic tone in comparison to the original Netflix show. When asked if Born Again will be evoking a more outwardly comedic style like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Cox responded that the show won't shy away from darkness but will still be fun. "I don't think that would work. Not over the course of our entire season," the actor explained. "Not with this character. I don't think it's necessarily truthful enough to the source material for it to really work."
