It seems Matthew Murdock may have a new companion in Marvel Studios' Daredevil: Born Again series.Filming on the upcoming Disney+ show began in late Feb. 2023, set to be star Charlie Cox's first standalone project as the "Man Without Fear" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Shared on Twitter, a photo taken from the Born Again set shows Cox in costume as Murdock, red lens glasses and cane included, while walking alongside actor Nikki M. James. James' new MCU role has not been revealed as of writing, but since Cox is dressed in Murdock's lawyer attire and the two are walking near New York police officers, it appears that the actor may be playing a work colleague for the blind vigilante.RELATED: Daredevil: Born Again's Harlem Shoot Has Fans Anticipating Luke Cage's MCU Debut

Cox originally starred as Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil, in the Daredevil television series formerly housed on Netflix, now streaming on Disney+. The show was canceled after its third season released in 2018, but Cox reprised his role as Murdock years later in the film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), later donning the Daredevil super suit once again for Disney+'s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series. Although Cox has joined the MCU, what remains to be seen is whether the events of Daredevil are canon to the cinematic universe.

Born Again Leaves Out, Recasts Daredevil Actors

Despite some actors reprising their Daredevil roles for Born Again, other key members of the show's cast are reportedly not returning for the series. This includes Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Hensen, who played Murdock's friends Karen Page and Franklin "Foggy" Nelson, respectively. Whether the roles of Karen and Foggy are being left out of Born Again or recast for the series also remains uncertain, considering the show has reportedly gone ahead and recast Vanessa Fisk, wife of the villain Kingpin, with actor Sandrine Holt in place of Ayelet Zurer. However, Daredevil has other colleagues in the comic book Marvel Universe that James could be playing, just one example being lawyer Kirsten McDuffie.

The Punisher and Kingpin Are in Daredevil: Born Again

As for returning cast members, after he already appeared in Disney+'s Hawkeye series, it is confirmed that Daredevil actor Vincent D'Onofrio will portray Kingpin/Wilson Fisk in Born Again. Along with the report of Woll and Hensen's absence came the news that Punisher actor Jon Bernthal will be back as the gun-toting antihero in the series. Prior to the new Daredevil project though, Cox and D'Onofrio will reprise their MCU roles in the upcoming Echo show, which D'Onofrio says leads into Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again is slated to released in Spring 2024.
