Marvel Studios has announced when Daredevil: Born Again will begin filming.

During its showcase at Disney's D23 Expo 2022, Marvel confirmed that the 18-episode first season of Daredevil: Born Again will start production in 2023. Stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were also on hand to hype up the Disney+ series, which will serve as a spiritual successor to Netflix's Daredevil series. The actors will be reprising their MCU roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, respectively, in the upcoming Disney+ continuation.

Ahead of Daredevil: Born Again, Cox will appear in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, sporting a new yellow and red Daredevil costume. New footage of Cox as Matt Murdock and Daredevil was recently released in a new promo for the Jade Giantess' Disney+ series. The sneak peek showed a conversation between lawyers Jennifer Walters and Murdock with the latter giving the former a bit of advice. "I think you're in a unique position to do some real good. Jen Walters can use the law to help people when society fails them," he says. "She-Hulk can help people when the law fails them." The promo also revealed that She-Hulk and Daredevil will team up for reasons that were not disclosed.

Marvel's Long-term Plans for Daredevil

Since Cox's first return appearance as The Man Without Fear in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel Studios has been slowly signing Cox to more and more projects as the crime-fighting vigilante. In addition to She-Hulk, Cox will return as Daredevil in the Hawkeye spinoff series Echo and the animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year. The actor is expected to appear in three episodes of Echo and will be rocking a red and black suit as Daredevil, who is reportedly looking for Jessica Jones, who has gone missing. The character will also wear a red and black suit in Freshman Year, where he will act as a mentor to a young Spider-Man.

The first season of Daredevil: Born Again will consist of 18 episodes, almost twice the length of most Marvel Disney+ series which typically run between 6 and 9 episodes. While it is unknown at this time if any other cast members from Netflix's Daredevil run will appear in Born Again, Rosario Dawson has made it clear that she wants to come back. "I was really excited to know that all of our shows are actually part of the MCU now, with Charlie [Cox] and Vincent [D’Onofrio] coming over into these different projects now," said Dawson, who portrayed former night shift nurse Claire Temple in Netflix's Marvel series. "So, yeah, 18 episodes [of Daredevil: Born Again]? I’m there! Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, they know where I am."

Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in early 2024.
