Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again may retell some plotlines from both Marvel Comics and the original Netflix Daredevil series.

In an interview with Variety, Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox hinted at the plethora of stories still left to tell for the character, including some stories they might revisit from the Netflix show. When asked about co-stars from Netflix's Daredevil he'd like to work with again, Cox stated that the cast members were "the beating heart" of all of Marvel's Netflix shows. "I would hate to single anyone out and I would hate to speculate because I just don’t know what the plan is going forward. That’s way above my pay grade," he said. "There are so many great stories to tell. There are stories to tell again. That wouldn’t be inconsistent with what they do in the comic book universe."

He continued, "Often a new writer and artist will take over a book and they will start from the beginning. So maybe we’ll be doing that, but I genuinely don’t know. I’m just thrilled that I’ve been invited to the party." This isn't the first time Cox has said Born Again may revisit certain aspects of Daredevil's storyline. In a recent interview, he said that the Disney+ show will be a new beginning for the character and, in turn, may retell Daredevil/Matt Murdock's origin story for his first solo entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Retelling Daredevil's Story

"You know [Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige] has been very clear about [Born Again] being Season 1, so not a Season 4, you know. So, it's a whole new deal," he said. "Um, and in a way, what's great about that is that we potentially get to tell some of the stories over and over again. In the same way that they do in the comics you know every now and again they stop back at the beginning of Murdock's journey as a little boy and they tell the whole origin story again. So maybe we'll get to do that. I don't know."

Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere in the spring of 2024 as part of the MCU's Phase 5. The first season will consist of 18 episodes and see Cox and his Daredevil co-star Vincent D'Onofrio reprise their respective roles of Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin from Netflix's three-season series, which ran from 2015 to 2018. While the plot of Born Again remains unknown, recent rumors suggest that the upcoming series may adapt 2017's "Mayor Fisk" story arc from Marvel Comics by Charles Soule and Ron Garney.

In preparation for Daredevil's grand return in Phase Five, Cox's superhero has already made a few appearances in Phase Four. Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdock in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home and cameoed in two episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Similarly, D'Onofrio appeared as Kingpin in Disney+'s Hawkeye series.
