Charlie Cox, who has played the Marvel hero Daredevil across various TV and film projects, considers Karen Page to be irreplaceable when it comes to Matt Murdock's love interests.Speaking on a panel at GalaxyCon in Richmond, Virginia Cox was asked about Matt's relationships and initially responded, "I would like for Matt to continue exploring," drawing laughter from the audience. He went on to clarify, "What I mean by that is I think there's a lot of fun stories to tell, still." However, he did land on one character as having special importance: "I think that if you're a true Daredevil fan -- maybe I'm wrong, I don't know -- I feel like there's probably no escaping that there's only one Karen Page."RELATED: Daredevil: Born Again Includes a Subtle Ant-Man Reference in New BTS Photos

As Cox was apparently referring to the comic book character who preceded his own portrayal, his thoughts may have no bearing on Daredevil's future in the upcoming Disney+ reboot series, Daredevil: Born Again. However, the actor's take on Matt's love life speaks of his own interest in the source comics.

How Does Karen Page Fit Into Daredevil's Story?

In Marvel Comics, Karen Page was introduced in Daredevil #1 as the secretary at Matt's law firm, Nelson & Murdock. She became Daredevil's first love interest, but later betrayed him while suffering from a drug addiction.

Netflix's Daredevil TV series starring Cox put a different spin on the character of Karen Page, who was played by Deborah Ann Woll. Although Matt and Karen did enter a romantic relationship in the show, they broke up in Season 2 after Matt's old flame Elektra, another iconic Marvel character, came back into his life. Karen left Nelson & Murdock to pursue a career in journalism, and made several appearances in the spinoff series The Punisher. In Season 3 of Daredevil, Karen remained a main character, but her romance with Matt was never rekindled onscreen.

Although Cox's Daredevil co-stars Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin) and Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher) will be joining him in Born Again, so far there has been no indication that fan-favorite Woll, or Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, will return to reprise their roles.

Daredevil and The Punisher are available to stream on Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again does not yet have a release date.
