The following contains minor spoilers for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

New behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Daredevil: Born Again include a subtle Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania reference.

Twitter user @DDevilUpdates posted eight images of a New Year's Eve scene shot on location in Times Square for the upcoming Disney+ series. While some extras are seen holding Kingpin/Wilson Fisk merchandise, there are others with Pym van Dyne Foundation paraphernalia, including balloons and winter hats. Pym van Dyne was recently introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) as the former company that Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) founded, Pym Technologies, which his daughter Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), AKA the Wasp, reclaimed and renamed.

Some Daredevil Heroes and Villains Have Returned to the MCU

Born Again's Quantumania reference is a stark contrast to the original Daredevil series that ran on Netflix between 2015 and 2018, which had a vague connection to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Among others, it was mainly the street-level characters Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher running in the same New York circles, while the Avengers' victory in the Battle of New York -- seen in The Avengers (2012) -- was considered as "The Incident" to the community in Daredevil and related shows. The official introduction of Matthew Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) into the main MCU took place in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), where the character appeared as Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) lawyer.

In addition to Cox, Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio was reintroduced as his same Daredevil villain in the MCU's Hawkeye series on Disney+. According to D'Onofrio, the Daredevil actors celebrated their return together on a phone call. "As soon as Kevin [Feige] revealed the fact that Charlie was going to participate, Charlie called me immediately and we had a huge conversation about it, which didn’t include anything about Hawkeye," D'Onofrio said. "But when they showed the phone shot of Kingpin in [last week’s] episode of Hawkeye, I immediately called Charlie and we had another two-hour conversation."

Daredevil's Stars Hope for More MCU Crossovers

Cox's Daredevil resurfaced again in 2022's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Disney+, and will be reuniting with D'Onofrio's Kingpin in the upcoming Echo series. Before the new Ant-Man tease, Cox previously expressed his hopes that Daredevil crosses over with other MCU characters. "I don't know anything. I haven't read anything from any scripts," Cox said. "So I don't know. I have no idea. But the only thing that's fun going forward for the Daredevil show is that of course when we were on Netflix, we didn't have the opportunity to really have the crossovers other than the characters that we knew we had in that Netflix Marvel world."

Meanwhile, in early 2022, D'Onofrio had his sights on a crossover that MCU fans are waiting patiently for: a head-on battle between his Kingpin and Tom Holland's Spider-Man. "I want it as much as everybody does, so we'll see," D'Onofrio said.

Daredevil: Born Again is expected to premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2024, but no specific release date has been confirmed as of writing.
