WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Daredevil #20, by Chip Zdarsky, Marco Checchetto, Mattia Iacono and VC's Clayton Cowles, available now.

In Daredevil #19, Bullseye, Rhino, Bullet, Stilt-Man and Crossbones were unleashed on Hell's Kitchen with the goal of turning the New York City neighborhood into a literal warzone so the rich and powerful Stromwyn twins could make a play for economic control. As a result, the villains attacked anything and everyone in their path, destroying as much as they possibly could. However, the people of Hell's Kitchen started to fight back, and this in turn inspired Matt Murdock to finally assume the mantle of Daredevil once again.

Now, in Daredevil #20, the Man Without Fear takes on this army of supervillains to keep the people of his neighborhood safe. But thankfully, he doesn't exactly have to do it all alone. In fact, in the battle for Hell's Kitchen, Daredevil ends up getting help from two unexpected allies: Wilson Fisk and Typhoid Mary.

Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk are anything but friends. The two have been enemies for a very long time, and they have been at each other's throat on more than one occasion. However, the rise of the villainous Stromwyns represented a threat for them both -- Fisk especially. The former Kingpin of Crime has been operating as the Mayor of New York City, but the Stromwyns have been using their great influence to threaten him and keep him in line at every turn. In recent issues of Daredevil, Fisk was pushed to the brink but now, in issue #20, he finally decides to take a stand. And that just happens to put him on the same side as his sworn enemy, Daredevil.

As the villains continue their attack on the people of Hell's Kitchen, Daredevil finds himself on the ropes. But when the people rush to his aid, Crossbones turns his attention to the simple citizens. Before he can attack however, Fisk shows up and knocks the villain down with a powerful punch. Then, before you know it, Daredevil and Kingpin are standing back-to-back, fighting on the same side against a common threat.

Still, Fisk makes it clear they aren't friends. This is simply to protect his city -- not Daredevil.

Typhoid Mary, who has also been a longtime enemy of Daredevil, was also recently revealed to have been hiding as Sister Elizabeth. The attack on Hell's Kitchen was enough to wake her Typhoid Mary personality, and the villain has now returned. She also expresses an attachment to the place she calls home. After spending an extended period of time as a nun, Mary appears to care for the church, and the people hiding inside it. After Rhino sets his sights on the holy building, Mary agrees to help Daredevil and lure the hulking villain away. It's a brief alliance between the two characters, but it's still noteworthy. It shows that Mary has gone through some growth, and that she may not be the villain she once was -- at least, in part.

While Typhoid Mary and Wilson Fisk are both enemies of Daredevil, all three found some common ground in Daredevil #20. Sure, they have more than their fair share of differences, but when the fate of the people of Hell's Kitchen is at stake, it seems they are all in agreement to protect them.
