There have been several reports that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will reprise their roles as Spider-Man in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home. A new synopsis for the film, released in Denmark, may have confirmed these reports.

Released by Nordisk Film Biografer, the synopsis reads (translated from Danish), "For the first time, Spider-Man can no longer hide behind the mask, and he can no longer separate his life as a superhero from his normal life. When he asks Doctor Strange for help, even more comes into play, forcing him to figure out what it really means to be Spider-Man." While this part of the synopsis is available in all Nordic regions, the Danish description adds, "The film will seriously introduce the so-called multiverse in Marvel's film series, and previous editions of Spider-Man as well as various villains from 'Spider-Man' (2002) and 'The Amazing Spider-Man' will appear. The director and screenwriters were also behind the two previous MCU films about the Spider."

While there have been rumors, then reports and finally photos seemingly confirming the return of Maguire and Garfield as their respective iterations of Peter Parker, none of these have been verified and authenticity has never been definitively confirmed. Most recently, a photo showing the three Spider-Men gathered by the river circulated, alongside a photo seemingly confirming the return of actor Charlie Cox as Daredevil. These images have since been removed. However, there has been some dispute concerning their legitimacy.

Audiences can look forward to major announcements soon. Sony recently announced a fan event to be held at Regal Sherman Oaks. Participating fans will be the first to see Spider-Man: No Way Home's next trailer. The announcement also teased big surprises to come. The event will be held on Nov. 16 at 5PM (PST). Doors will open at 4PM with everyone seated by 4:45PM.

Aside from the past version of Spider-Man, several other characters -- predominately supervillains -- will also make an appearance. Alfred Molina's Doc Ock was shown in the film's first trailer to be returning and it was hinted that actor Willem Dafoe will join him as the Green Goblin. Actor Jamie Foxx from Amazing Spider-Man 2 will reprise his role as Electro, while various reports and posters have suggested Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans will also return as Sandman and The Lizard, respectively.

Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters Dec. 17.
