Daniel Craig has zero interest in returning to the role of James Bond after No Time To Die -- and zero cares as to who takes up the role of 007 after him.

Speaking to reporters on the red carpet at No Time To Die's world premiere in London, Craig expressed mixed feelings about whether or not he will miss playing Bond, as reported by The Independent. When asked about it, he answered, "Sure, yeah," but went on to say, "I don't know how much I'll miss this," referring to the red carpet event and general blockbuster publicity. Ultimately, he settled on an answer of uncertainty about missing Bond, saying, "Maybe. We'll see. I’ll think about it tomorrow."

Whether or not he ends up missing the role, Craig expressed no such uncertainty in regards to whether he would "do a Sean Connery" and return to the role after taking some movies off. To that query, he directly responded, "Nope, definitely not." Sean Connery initially retired from playing James Bond after the fifth movie, You Only Live Twice, but following the George Lazenby-starring On Her Majesty's Secret Service, he returned to the role for Diamonds Are Forever. Connery reprised Bond once again for Never Say Never Again, a 1983 remake of Thunderball outside of the main series canon, and in a 2005 video game.

In regards to the matter of the next James Bond actor and whether Craig has any preferences for his replacement, he made his lack of interest in the question very clear, simply answering, "Not my problem." It's clear the actor is ready to move on from the James Bond franchise and doesn't want to wade into the oft-volatile territory of casting discussions.

Daniel Craig has plenty of exciting new projects ahead of him in his post-Bond career. He recently wrapped filming on the upcoming Netflix release Knives Out 2, in which he will reprise his role as the detective Benoit Blanc, and is attached to also star in the third film of Rian Johnson's mystery series. Craig will also be seen on stage in a new Broadway production of Macbeth, produced by Bond producer Barbara Broccoli. He will play the titular Scottish king, while Ruth Negga will co-star as Lady Macbeth. Performances begin on March 29, 2022, before the official opening on April 28 at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre.

Fans can experience Craig's farewell to 007 when No Time to Die hits theaters on Oct. 8.
