Despite never being made into an anime adaptation, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair seems to be more popular than the first game in the series. The sequel stays true to the formula of the first game while adding in massive improvements. The cast is all-new, with the exception of Monokuma, and the setting is vastly different from that of the first game. Goodbye Despair is made to mirror the events of the first game while adding in important details to the canon story. It's also a prerequisite to the Danganronpa 3 animes which tie up the stories of the first game characters. Even with the love from fans and importance to three, this game has never gotten an adaptation, and here is why it still needs one.

10 We Already Have One

The strangest part about Goodbye Despair never getting an anime is the fact that the first game did. The anime of the first game aired in 2013 and was thirteen episodes long, greatly condensing the content of the game. Even with the condensed, the anime was well received and brought more attention to the games themselves.

Since the series has gone, there is now an obvious demand for more media from the franchise.

9 Danganronpa 3 Tie in

Danganronpa 3 is only available in an anime format, and to be honest with the way it's set up, it's better off that way. The issues come in with the fact that half of the show is based around the past events of the second games cast. While this does help explain these characters, it can't cover the information of the second game.

This leaves many anime-only fans left out of the fun story.

8 The Story is Incredible

Speaking of the story, it's considered to be much better than the first game. Goodbye, Despair is a much crueler tale, that doesn't hold back on any of the series thriller/horror aspects. The cast of this game is dropped on a now deserted island with no hopes to escape unless they murder and don't get caught.

Unwilling to murder each other, Monokuma must step in to create chaos.

The second game built on everything that made the first game outstanding, and fans took notice. In forums all around the web, many fans will state the two is a superior game with an obviously larger budget. The anime would most likely sell well just based on this fact alone, and would be easy to merchandise out even further.

A Danganronpa anime announcement would also bring in more attention for the next game.

6 The Characters

The characters in the game are extremely popular. Chiaki, Nagito, and Gundham are some of the top characters of the franchise. Chiaki and Nagito both have several statues available, and the rest of the cast has been used for other merchandise. The characters are a more diverse than the original cast and given better development.

Even Teruteru, the first murder is well fleshed out.

5 It Has a Perfect Summer Vibe

The game's setting is what at first appears to be the perfect tropical island. The backdrops of the game are gorgeous, and the characters are forced to live in vacation styled rooms. While the island vibe doesn't dominate the entirety of the game, it provides a nice environment for the characters to be isolated in.

This would be a great choice for a spring or summer show.

4 Nagito is a Great Antagonist

Nagito is one of the most controversial cast members, and fans love him. Nagito walks a fine line between being a protagnist and an antagonist and generally makes the game a lot more fun. Nagito's character is complex, and he doesn't hide the fact that he's not all that mentally sound from the cast.

His obsession with hope paired with his extreme luck is a treat to watch.

3 The Possible OVAs

Like the first game, the second has an extra mode after you beat the game. This mode is based around getting to know the cast better and is called Island Mode. This is a dating sim that lets you spend time with the character of your choice, and would be a great source material for a funny harem OVA.

Despite being an extra mode, there is a ton of additional content available.

2 More Content

In addition to already having a dense source material, fans would be happy to have additional content. An anime could add in an extra bit of dialogue or story, such as fleshing out Gundham and Sonia's relationship. It would also be nice to see the scenes better animated as most of the visual novel is reading.

This would easily help the characters' terror come across to viewers more easily.

1 Chiaki's Return

Chiaki is another popular character, who was killed in the anime sequel. In Danganronpa 2, she is a major part of the game and gets much more screen time. Chiaki would be able to show off her gaming skills and the growing relationship between her and Hajime after they met on the island.

It would also help bring viewers up to speed with the mindset of the class.
