The following article contains spoilers for Episode 8 of Dance Dance Danseur, "Oh, I Wanna Do It Again!!," now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Murao Jumpei may have found the perfect partner in more ways than one in Episode 8 of Dance Dance Danseur, as events got heated both inside and outside the ballet studio. Jumpei is formally introduced to Oikawa Natsuki as his female partner; though she has nothing but contempt for him at first, the two quickly discover that Jumpei is quite receptive to Natsuki's critique. He responds well to actual constructive advice as he learns to showcase his female star instead of battle for the limelight the way he has with competitive male leads.

From the moment Jumpei became addicted to ballet as a young boy, it was with sparkles in his eyes that no one else has yet understood, the closest being Mori Luou when accompanying Jumpei to a recital with Russian dancers. However, Luou's enthusiasm was nothing compared to the way Natsuki is transported into Jumpei's world of sparks and glitter, completely caught up in the dance as he is. They match each other almost perfectly and get so wound up in the joy of dancing with each other that they run into the window.

However, Jumpei's progress with Natsuki is not the only serious relationship change that's coming. Yasuda Misaki, one of Jumpei's classmates, sets up a meeting between Jumpei and his crush, Godai Miyako. This is not coming from the goodness of Misaki's heart -- Luou also likes Miyako and relies on her in a way that makes it plain they had some sort of childhood romance.

While Jumpei and Miyako are having a nice heart-to-heart they believe is private, Miyako is making certain that Luou has a perfect view of their first kiss. Miyako clearly has some plan to topple Luou from the top of their class after being shown up during the pirouette competition, already having dug up the dirty details about Luou's mother and now isolating Luou from both Miyako and Jumpei, with whom Luou had just started to get along. Whatever scheme Miyako cooking up, it does not bode well for Luou, especially considering the latter's terrible social anxiety.

It's unclear where Dance Dance Danseur will take Jumpei and Miyako's relationship from here. Neither of them wanted to make it public when they later met up with friends, and Miyako's mother may not approve. There is also the possibility that whatever is about to happen with Luou will affect things between the three. Natsuki's introduction could also throw a wrench in the works.

Although Natsuki is younger than Jumpei, their chemistry while dancing together is phenomenal. Luou and Miyako share a similar beauty while partnered, even if they don't experience the same amount of sparks and flashes. To complicate matters further, Miyako has an inferiority complex when it comes to Natsuki; there's a chance Jumpei could be caught in the middle of what is becoming a four-person potential love disaster, all orchestrated by Miyako in an attempt to remove Luou from the competition for the Oikawa School scholarship.

With so many possible conflicts on the horizon as Season 1 nears the end of its 11-episode run, it's hard to tell whether the story will focus more on Jumpei redeeming his ballet, his friendship with Luou, or his relationships with Natsuki and Miyako. He also hasn't had the chance to truly apologize to Godai Chizuru, his first ballet teacher and the one who discovered him. Leaving Chizuru's studio -- when she was the one to put so much initial effort into him -- would be a betrayal of the affection she showed him, especially since she was willing to let go of many of her clients to defend Jumpei's Swan Prince performance.

The conflict with Luou seems to be building most rapidly, especially with Misaki working behind the scenes to escalate the situation, making it seem likely that Season 1 of Dance Dance Danseur will round out by exploring that arc. The show can then move on in a potential Season 2 to follow Jumpei as he continues to learn and grow to become the prince of ballet he dreams of presenting on the stage.
