For the first time since the news surfaced online last Friday, former DC Co-Publisher Dan DiDio has issued a public statement regarding the industry's response to his departure.

"Overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of love and support and it leaves me at a loss for words (first time for everything)," he wrote in a public Facebook post. "So, instead, I’ll turn to what was said nearly five years ago on April 10, 2015 to best sum up how I feel. Love to you all." He included a video of a one-and-a-half-minute speech he gave roughly five years ago.

DiDio became Vice President, Editorial, at DC in 2002, before later getting promoted to Vice President, Executive Editor. In 2010, he became DC Comics Co-Publisher alongside artist Jim Lee. Outside of his editorial work, DiDio also wrote O.M.A.C., Superboy and several other series. He's currently writing Metal Men for DC. That miniseries is illustrated by Shane Davis and has already published five of its twelve issues. It's unclear if, or how, Metal Men will be affected by DiDio's departure.

As Co-Publisher, DiDio was at the head of DC's "New 52" reboot and "Rebirth" relaunch, which resulted in major changes to the company's continuity. Plans for another relaunch, seemingly tied to Free Comic Book Day's Generation Zero, have been teased recently. It's unclear what this news means for those plans.
