DC has released the variant cover for Batman #106, which features a new costume for Damian Wayne that bears no resemblance to his current Robin persona.

The variant cover by Jorge Jimenez was released on the DCBatman Twitter account with the caption, "Infinite mysteries. BATMAN #106 (variant cover)." It displays the Bat-Family and Gotham's villains assembled on the city's rooftops. Crouching next to Batman appears to be Damian Wayne, in a sleek black and gray costume minus his signature red-yellow-and-green Robin costume and hoodie.

Damian Wayne has had a falling out with his father, Bruce Wayne, and the Teen Titans team he formed at the beginning of the DC Rebirth era. After being kicked out of the Teen Titans and seemingly ditching his Robin identity, the remaining Teen Titans members (Red Arrow, Kid Flash, Crush and Roundhouse were recruited by Nightwing, which will lead into the Future State: Teen Titans series running through the publisher's two-month Future State initiative.

Preview art for Future State: Teen Titans shows a collection of dead DC heroes such as Donna Troy and Wally West, while a separate teaser introduces a new Nightwing wearing Deathstroke's mask.

The pages of Detective Comics have shown Damian stealing Batman's black casebook in order to solve all of the crimes his father couldn't, upstaging the Dark Knight in the process.

As for the characters assembled on the Batman #106 variant, standing with Batman are Damian, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Catwoman, Batwoman, Spoiler, Orphan and Signal. To their right and in the center of the image are Tim Fox (the Batman of DC Future State: The Next Batman), Red Hood, Robin (Tim Drake), Oracle, Huntress. Behind them in the distance appears to be the Designer. Finally, the left side of the artwork showcases Joker, Punchline, Ghost-Maker, a mystery character, and Grifter.

The full announcement on Damian Wayne's new superhero identity should come later this week when DC releases its March 2021 solicitations.
