It turns out the recent report linking Daisy Ridley to the long-developing “Tomb Raider” reboot is more than mere rumor.
The star of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” confirmed Sunday to The Hollywood Reporter that “there have been conversations” about her stepping into the role of Lara Croft.
“I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it,'” the 23-year-old actress said, noting there’s no script yet.
Her “Star Wars” co-star John Boyega, who played Square Enix’s most recent “Tomb Raider” game, told the website he encouraged Ridley to pursue the role: “I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.”
Roar Uthaug (“The Wave”) is on board to direct the Warner Bros./MGM film, which has been in the works since 2011.
Archaeologist-adventurer Lara Craft was famously portrayed by Angelina Jolie in two movie adaptations, 2001’s “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and 2003’s “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life,” which grossed a combined $432 million worldwide.
