The following contains spoilers for Daisy Jones & The Six, now streaming on Prime Video.

From the start of the bumpy ride in the 1970s-decked tour van, the Fleetwood Mac-inspired Daisy Jones & The Six was always expected to crash and burn. This applies more appropriately for the band, as the Prime Video series escapes the same fate with a heartwarming twist. The documentary's interviewer is revealed to be Billy and Camila's daughter, Julia Dunne, bringing the show and band proper closure.

Growing up on the rock-and-roll scene in the 1970s, not many people can say they lived the same childhood as Julia. Her younger years were spent being primarily raised by her mother, who was in a tumultuous relationship with the lead of the shiny new band in town. But as the story goes, things get messy when Daisy Jones walks in and steals Billy's heart in a way that Camila could never hold onto. With a love triangle, Eddie's growing jealously of Billy, and Karen and Graham's own relationship collapse, the band made one final bow in 1977. That is until the child of the band brought them back together for a documentary, saving the story from ending on a bland note.

Julia's Role Confirms the Main Characters of the Story

Julia in Daisy Jones and the Six Episode 10

The TV show slightly suffered from focusing too much on the love triangle between Daisy, Billy and Camila, whereas the book offers an expansive and richer look into all the band members' relationships. It does touch on the other members, especially Karen and Graham's relationship, but doesn't bother far beyond that. The reveal that Julia is the interviewer almost excuses the heavy focus on the love affair. It may have not been entirely apparent in the story, but Julia was a catapult for the great and disastrous events in the band's life. If it wasn't for Billy's dedication to be a good father -- alongside his fear of being a bad one -- the group would've flunked.

Besides Daisy, Billy was the lead and main songwriter. When the group was just practicing in a garage in the beginning, he was the one who pushed to take a chance on making the Los Angeles move. Without Camila -- who was almost always Billy's muse -- and her own devotion to keeping her family together, he would've given up a long time ago. Love him or hate him, Billy was the wind that blew Daisy Jones & The Six in whichever direction they went, but Julia was his wind.

On that note, it makes sense why Julia is the one pursuing the truth in the first place. She had this whole life from when she was a toddler with her dad being one of the biggest stars in the world, yet she knows little of it -- even if she can remember some events. A piece of her life is missing, and she has to put the puzzle together to find out her origins. She -- like her mother -- was an observer in this wild journey; only Camila could instigate every moment of the band's career, and Julia obviously couldn't. Fittingly, Julia is carrying on her mother's legacy by reuniting the gang once again. And what's more satisfying, is that now with Julia being the instigator, it means Camila gets the last word. Camila was the victim of the rollercoaster that was the band's journey, but now in death she can control the narrative by asking her daughter to push Daisy and Billy together.

Daisy Jones & The Six Was Always About Family

Daisy Jones & The Six smile on stage at a crowd of people

At its core, Daisy Jones & The Six was never really about the trials and tribulations of stardom in the 1970s; it was about family. Camila always reiterated that the band was a family, even if most of them weren't connected by blood, because they were connected by their love for each other and the arts. If true family isn't the band waiting in the hospital to await Teddy Price's diagnosis, then what really is family? By extension, Julia was everyone's child. The band members watched her grow up because Camila was the honorary sixth member. Of course, Julia could be the only one to capable of bringing the group together, because she's a part of their family.

For the members to be so vulnerable with Julia speaks volumes to the impact she had on their lives. She may have been young when the band was at its peak, but she was always there with them. Their willingness to discuss the past without a filter is a type of trust any other interviewer, such as the fictitious journalist Jonah Berg, wouldn't have been granted. This trust is a reflection on the second chances that were often handed to the band in their messiest moments. Billy was showered with chances by Camila, despite all his mistakes.

Daisy was given a second chance at life after her near overdose. Billy and Daisy are given another shot at a relationship in the present day. Even Karen was given another chance at a career when she joined Daisy Jones & The Six. Now thanks to their trust in Julia, the group had another chance to make things right with each other for the documentary, and leave their eclectic past behind them.
