What if aliens attacked, but were too small to see?
That’s the story of the upcoming comic series Shrinkage, but as you can tell from the title, it has an extra helping of humor. Akin to Tim Burton’s adaptation of Mars Attacks, Shrinkage mixes political humor with anxiety over alien invasion — and it comes from one of the writers of The Daily Show and Conan.
“For years I’ve been dreaming up an insane comedy sci-fi series called Shrinkage about an all-out battle against nano-scale alien invaders, all taking place inside the President of the United States’ brain,” writer Rob Kutner explains. “But these days, with so many comic book houses focused on in-house superhero properties, it was hard for a comics ‘noob’ like me to sell the idea.”
Working with artist John Lucas (X-Men, Deadpool), Kutner has taken his concept to Kickstarter to fund both a digital and print release for the four-issue series. Aiming to reach $30,000, Kutner and Lucas are already 10 percent of the way there with just under two months to go. Kutner plans to release the Shrinkage comic digitally through the new webcomics app Farrago.
