Are Da Vinci and Lucrezia just in lust in Starz's Da Vinci's Demons, or is it something more? Leonardo da Vinci said in Episode 1 that he thinks he might be in love with Lorenzo de Medici's mistress, and those feelings have just become more complicated as the series has continued on.

In an exclusive clip from tonight's episode, "The Magician," Da Vinci finds it difficult to paint his patron's lover. Lucrezia tells him that he's distracted, but he very eloquently explains that there are many elements about painting her that are worth being distracted over. Regardless of his reasoning, the artist and inventor's magic continues to work on Miss Donati, and it seems like she's fallen pretty hard for the man she's spying on.

Created by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel), the new Starz historical fantasy explores the untold story of Da Vinci, played by Tom Riley. Da Vinci’s Demons has been renewed for a second season.

During an interview at New York Comic Con, actress Laura Haddock opened up to Spinoff Online about how meeting Da Vinci changes her character Lucrezia's views on love and romance.

“I don’t think she’s ever been in love with anybody, I think that it’s always kind of thought through and done for other reasons,” she explained. “This bohemian, sexy, exciting, modern artist, he’s so different to everybody else in the show who are slightly more conforming to the society that we’re playing in. This guy just walks up and he’s breaking all boundaries, he’s exciting, and she’s never met anyone like him, and he’s more like her, who she really is.”

Da Vinci's Demons airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.
