The latest trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 reveals more information on Lifepaths. These are different backstories players can choose for their player character, V. While we've known about this feature for a while, the trailer provides more story details and a glimpse into who's who. Each one is distinct, and it looks like there will be a great triple playthrough awaiting players when the finally game launches in November.

The first shown off is the Street Kid backstory, and it's pretty true to what it sounds like. This V grew up on the mean streets of Night City and is versed in the underground dealings within. They have contacts and know how the city works from being raised as part of the community. The trailer shows everything from street racing and gangs to being at odds with the police and Corpos. As a Street Kid, V is part of the city's pulse, and this path will likely open up some interesting avenues to acquire black market items or find information.

It's not entirely clear who the partner is for this path, as there are two characters who it could be. First, we're shown a woman with blue hair making a proposition to V about doing something greater in life. The second is a big man drinking and going out on the town with V.

The second backstory is the one a lot of people are excited for: the Nomad. Here, V is from a small community living outside Night City full of self-sufficient Nomads. In this Lifepath, something happens to V's family, leading them to Night City. While this version of V may be the least knowledgeable about the city, there may be a trade-off for skills and crafting given that Nomads take care of themselves. The partner for this path is a woman named Jackie, who seems to be from the city. Jackie will likely help V get around and teach them about the inner workings of Night City.

The final backstory is Corpo, where V may be high up the corporate chain but is still a gear in the machine. The trailer shows a cold world of business where it's hinted V may be involved in corporate espionage and possibly a hitman. This backstory is in opposition with the Street Kid, but the two do have some similarities. Rather than having access to street level information, V looks to be more involved with what's going on at the top. They may have access to information from this world and possibly a different black market from the one at street level. It's not clear who the partner is here, but they are another higher up named is Abernathy.

Each path is distinct, and the trailer makes clear that this will affect in-game choices. Each version of V seems to have a completely different personality, connections and even skill sets, and knows different characters. There's certainly more to learn here, but what we've already seen sets up Cyberpunk 2077 as a massive game with a lot of replay value.
