CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 may return to the PlayStation Store in the near future.

Spotted by IGN, a listing for Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be discoverable on the PlayStation Store. If users search for the game, it can now be found with a "Just Announced" tag. When the game was removed towards the end of 2020, searching for the title would yield no results. The inclusion of the listing, as well as the new tag, suggests that the game's digital return may be imminent.

While the game is present on the store once again, players still aren't able to purchase Cyberpunk 2077 through the PlayStation Store. Users can add the game to their wishlist or follow it for future updates. If the digital version is already owned, the game can redownload but the only available iteration is the 1.00 version which launched last year. CD Projekt Red has released several updates to fix the game since the initial 1.00 launch version, but none of these are available to redownload.

Cyberpunk 2077 was removed from the PlayStation Store in December 2020 following the controversial launch of the game. The futuristic role-playing game was widely considered unplayable on older generations of hardware, like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, due to its poor technical performance and rampant bugs. The delisting of such a high-profile AAA game was unprecedented at the time.

Sony opened discussions with CD Projekt Red regarding the best course of action. The two parties eventually settled on offering refunds for everyone that had originally bought the game and removed it from the PlayStation Store entirely. "All copies of the game previously purchased digitally on PlayStation Store remain available for use by their respective buyers," said CD Projekt Red. "Gamers can still buy physical versions of the game in retail and mail order stores."

In May, CD Projekt Red President and Joint CEO Adam Kiciński stated that the developer was unsure of when Cyberpunk 2077 would actually return to the PlayStation Store. During a shareholder meeting, Kiciński said, "We are still in discussions and with every patch the game gets better and there is a visible progress, but as we said the decision is an exclusive decision of Sony, so we are waiting for the information about the fact that they took the decision to bring back this game. Until then I am not able to tell you anything more."

While many suspect that the game was removed due to its poor performance and technical failings, Sony and CD Projekt Red have yet to provide an official reason as to why Cyberpunk 2077 was delisted.

In the last six months, CD Projekt Red has released several updates and patches to fix the many problems found in Cyberpunk 2077. While many of the game's more pronounced bugs have been squashed, players still report that the state of the game is rough. The release date for the next major update is currently unknown.

Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC.
