Video game developer CD Projekt Red remains uncertain regarding if and when Sony will allow Cyberpunk 2077 to return to the PlayStation Store.

Per Video Games Chronicle, CD Projekt Red President and Joint CEO Adam Kiciński admitted during a shareholder meeting that Cyberpunk 2077's potential future on the PlayStation Store is still up in the air. "Unfortunately, I have no new information in this regard," he said. "We are still in discussions and with every patch the game gets better and there is a visible progress, but as we said the decision is an exclusive decision of Sony, so we are waiting for the information about the fact that they took the decision to bring back this game. Until then I am not able to tell you anything more."

The class action lawsuit that was filed against CD Projekt Red back in December 2020 was also addressed at the recent shareholder meeting. The developer shared that the lawsuit over the poor performance of Cyberpunk 2077 on previous-generation consoles will be filed with the court in June. The lawsuit, filed by Rosen Law Firm, was the first of two class action lawsuits against CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077.

The future-set role-playing video game Cyberpunk 2077 was initially removed from the PlayStation Store following reports of several game-breaking bugs, glitches and crashes upon the game's launch. Many players said the game was "virtually unplayable" on last-gen consoles (i.e. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan previously gave a subtle comment about Cyberpunk 2077's controversial release while discussing PlayStation's decision to delay the release of some of their upcoming games. "[There] are two approaches to this: you can either hold the date and put out the game irrespective of quality or you can ship it when it’s right," Ryan said. "We have always taken the latter approach. There have been some fairly high-profile instances of publishers trying the former approach."

Despite the class action lawsuits and its removal from the PlayStation Store following poor performance reports, Kiciński previously shared his belief that Cyberpunk 2077 could recover from its initial critical reception. "I don't see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077," he told Reuters. "We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come."

Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC.
