Any way you look at it, Cyberpunk 2077 has a LOT of content available for the player to dig through on top of a sizable narrative. CD Projekt RED's new title offers loads of side-missions, crimes to be tackled, a wide assortment of weapons and abilities to experiment with in the vast playground that is Night City and its outskirts.

Some players will want to run through the story as fast as possible, while others will look to get the most out of anything and everything Cyberpunk has to offer. Here's how long it'll take to finish Cyberpunk 2077's story and how long it takes to fully complete.

Beating The Story

Cyberpunk 2077 Heavy Augments

Cyberpunk 2077's story takes players through the seedy underbelly of an alternate dystopian American future and up to its lofty heights. Depending on how aggressively players pursue the main narrative, HowLongToBeat reports it'll take an average of about 21 hours to complete. Players rushing through as fast as possible will end up closer to 15-16 hours, but it'll largely depend on how much -- if any -- extra or side content is tackled alongside the story.

This is a decrease from CD Projekt RED's last title, Witcher 3, which clocked an average of around 51 hours to see the tale's end. CD Projekt RED had said that they intentionally made Cyberpunk's story shorter than Witcher 3's on account of many players who found the game too long to see all the way through.

Completing Everything Cyberpunk 2077 Offers

Those looking to get the most out of Cyberpunk will find that their run time nears an average of 90 hours or more. The fastest complete runs end up somewhere around 70 hours, and those in it for leisure average a little over double that. The way you play, what you stop to take in and how you solve the problems V encounters will be the real determining factor for completionists.

What pushes a complete playthrough past that 51-hour mark and beyond are the wide array of optional missions and side content available throughout Night City. The story in Cyberpunk 2077 is really only a fraction of the game. There are dozens of hours that can be poured into resolving crimes in-progress throughout the city on top of contracts and missions that open up through characters encountered along the way. One such example is the Epistrophy questline. What starts as a simple "go here and get this" soon becomes a 7-part saga that takes you throughout Night City.

Whether you're in it to see how Cyberpunk 2077's narrative holds up after all the hype, or you're looking for something to sink your teeth into for a long while, Cyberpunk keeps one foot on either side of the fence for players to choose how they'd like to experience the title.
