Numerous projects are currently in the works to expand on the world of Cyberpunk 2077, including an upcoming comic book. The most recent addition to the franchise is a new series. Acclaimed video game developer CD Projekt Red and streaming giant Netflix have announced a new anime set in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 world.

Titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the 10-episode anime series is being developed with the help of Japan-based Studio Trigger, the studio behind shows such as Little Witch Academia. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is set in the world of  the video game but centers on a street kid. The announcement from CD Projekt Red reveals that "having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk."

CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 is an open world game revolving around V, a fully customizable character who will traverse the seedy, dystopian world of Night City, where cybernetic implants have seemingly shaped society for the worse. The game has been in development since 2016 and is currently scheduled for release on 19 November.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is scheduled for release on Netflix in 2022.

Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC Nov. 19, and the game will also be available for the upcoming Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 next-gen consoles.
