Entertainment Weekly describes Scott's role as a "bridge between Tobias Whale (played by L.A. rapper Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III) and a secret group of corrupt leaders." Lady Eve will enter Freeland as the owner of a local funeral parlor that finds herself at odds with Black Lightning.

“Jill is an amazing artist who can embody any character and give them an authentic voice that is both nuanced and richly complex,” showrunner Salim Akil said in a statement. “I am excited to see her in the role of Lady Eve.”

Lady Eve

In DC Comics lore, Lady Eve is a member of the international terrorist group the Kobra Cult, whose leader first appeared 1976 in Kobra #1. The group has made appearances over the decades on the animated series' Batman BeyondBatman: The Brave and the BoldYoung Justice and Beware the Batman.

Created by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eeden, Black Lightning debuted in 1977 in Black Lightning#1 as the first major African-American superhero at DC Comics. The first season of The CW's Black Lightning will see Jefferson going up against Tobias Whale, a mobster who heads up the One Hundred in the comics.

Debuting in 2018, Black Lightning stars Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams and Christine Adams.
