Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, the entertainment industry worldwide has been grounded to a halt. Most major entertainment studios ceased production to practice social distancing, which led to numerous shows entering hiatus.

But The CW's Arrowverse shows — such as The Flash and Batwoman — and Riverdale will be resuming production soon. Vancouver-based production will be slowly restarting in the coming weeks, according to Deadline. In addition to these programs, over 30 of the other series that film in the area are expected to resume filming as well.

Hollywood North government's CreativeBC is working on creating safety guidelines, which are expected to be announced in mid-June. Many insiders don't believe production will ramp up again until after Canada Day, which is on July 1. There are also travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines that have to be taken into account, as many crew members and actors will be entering Canada from a different country.

The pause on production led The CW to push back many of its usual fall shows to midseason in January 2021. Black Lightning, The Flash, Superman & Lois, Batwoman and Riverdale are expected to be back at the start of the new year, while Supergirl will premiere at a later date to accommodate star Melissa Benoist's pregnancy and maternity leave.
