An ominous poster for Stargirl's upcoming second season sees the Arrowverse debut of the Heart of Darkness, the power source of one of the season's new villains, Eclipso, who will be played by Nick Tarabay.Shared onto the DC's Stargirl Twitter account, the poster sees the Heart of Darkness atop the Cosmic Staff as a surge of energy emanating from it travels down towards Stargirl's hand. Also, the series' title card and Season 2 premiere date can be seen next to the staff. Above and below the poster are tweets that respectively read, "When you see it" and "Don't show your fear." Both tweets also feature emojis in them, the former having a pair of eyes and the latter a shushing face.RELATED: Stargirl Season 2: Trailer, Plot, Release Date & News to Know

The Heart of Darkness was previously seen in the finale of Stargirl Season 1 when Cindy Burman/Shiv found it and said, "I see you in there...Eclipso."

Debuting alongside Eclipso in 1963's House of Secrets #61, a later retcon would explain that the Heart of Darkness was originally used to imprison Eclipso. However, it would later be split up into multiple pieces and scattered across the globe. The pieces can also allow Eclipso to possess whoever holds one of them, either through a natural or artificial eclipse or if the host feels rage.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl), Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan (S.T.R.I.P.E.), Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton (Starman), Trae Romano as Mike Dugan, Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez (Wildcat), Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel (Dr. Mid-Nite), Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler (Hourman), Joy Osmanski as Ms. Brooks (Tigress), Christopher James Baker as Dr. Henry King (Brainwave), Neil Jackson as Jordan Mahkent (Icicle), Nelson Lee as Dr. Ito (Dragon King), Neil Hopkins as Lawrence Crock (Sportsmaster), Jonathan Cake as The Shade, Alkoya Brunson as Jakeem Thunder, Nick Tarabay as Eclipso, Ysa Penarejo as Jade and Jim Gaffigan as the voice of Thunderbolt. Season 2 premieres Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
